About us

The Bioeconomy Challenge

We are a global, multi-stakeholder coalition born out of climate urgency and the conviction that the bioeconomy is the path to reconcile prosperity and nature. The Bioeconomy Challenge is the operational response to a global need to see ambitions having some concrete, sustainable impact — bringing together civil society, businesses, multilateral organizations, governments, and communities around one shared goal: to make the bioeconomy scale globally by 2028.

A New Chapter for the
Global Bioeconomy

A New Chapter
for the Global
Bioeconomy

We emerge from the momentum of the G20 and the transformative ambition of COP30, where, for the first time, the bioeconomy takes centre stage in the climate agenda — as a key strategy to accelerate NDCs and build a regenerative future. This project lies in continuity with two years of experience from the G20 Initiative on Bioeconomy (GIB) under the Brasilian (2024) and South African (2025) Presidencies, to bring together civil society, governments and the private sector from around the world.

We exist because trillions still finance unsustainable practices that degrade ecosystems, while biodiversity-based solutions remain underfunded. We exist because we believe it is possible — and urgent — to build an economy where standing forests are worth more than cleared land, where traditional and local communities are protagonists of development, and where capital flows to regenerate. Our work is to build bridges that make this possible.

We are an open platform and this is an urgent invitation to every partner, organization, or community willing to contribute.

If you are a government seeking actionable pathways, a company ready to invest with real impact, an organization working on the ground, or a community safeguarding ancestral knowledge — we need you.

The future of the bioeconomy will not be built by a few, but by everyone who understands that this is the decisive decade. From Belém to the world, we are proving that it is possible to grow by protecting, prosper by regenerating, and build development that begins with those who have always cared for nature.

Join us. The time is now.
